I AM TRANSPARENT

Transparency implies openness, communication, and accountability. Students should be kept in the loop about the elements that impact their educational experience. Community relationships can become strained when clear communication is not present.  Staff and students should develop healthy communication connections.

Examples:

How can staff demonstrate Transparency within student engagement.

  • Explain why certain decisions were made rather than demanding changes.

  • Identifying clear classroom standards and expectations and allowing students to create rules around them.

  • Giving periodic feedback allowing students the opportunity to improve.

  • Being genuine about your actions.

How can students demonstrate Transparency amongst their peers

  • Set healthy communication boundaries but speak with honesty and clarity.

  • Provide supportive feedback.

  • Explain your feelings and actions.

  • Being genuine in your interactions.

Tools That we can provide to encourage this:

Assigning a progress update day, Events celebrating accomplishments, automated parent outreach and conferencing request when students reach a low grading level.
