June ArcaMay
Assistant Principal of Climate and Culture

Born from a commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments, the T.E.A.M.A.K.E.R Framework emerged in the vibrant landscape of Fall 2022. Crafted by June ArcaMay, a visionary Climate and Culture Administrator within the New York City Public School system, this framework represents a transformative leap forward in nurturing belongingness among students, staff, and communities.
Rooted in empirical insights gleaned from rigorous analysis of High School Data, the genesis of the T.E.A.M.A.K.E.R Framework was an exploration into the very essence of belonging. Ms. ArcaMay discerned patterns and perspectives from a Manhattan Public School's data, distilling them into the guiding principles encapsulated within the T.E.A.M.A.K.E.R acronym.
Transparency, Empathy, Acceptance, Mindfulness, Accommodation, Kindness, Equity, and Respect form the cornerstone of this framework—a testament to the belief that true belonging flourishes when these foundational elements are nurtured.
Having introduced the T.E.A.M.A.K.E.R Framework to 47 Parent Coordinators within the esteemed District 2 Manhattan Schools, our journey towards fostering belongingness has only just begun. Looking ahead, we are poised to extend the reach of this transformative framework to hand-selected Elementary schools citywide throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
As change agents committed to elevating our school climates and cultures, we are steadfast in our dedication to implementing the critical characteristics embedded within the T.E.A.M.A.K.E.R. Framework. By fusing these defining elements, we are not just shaping educational environments; we are shaping futures. Together, we embark on a journey towards building communities where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued.
