I AM ACCOMMODATION

Creating a space for support and flexibility is one of the common request within the HSFI community. Staff and students must work together to create a foundation of accountability but also accommodating when possible.

Examples:

How can staff demonstrate accommodation within student engagement.

  • Flexibility with assignment deadlines.

  • Giving breaks when needed.

  • Giving assignment options.

  • Providing tutoring opportunities.

How can students demonstrate accommodation amongst their peers

  • Work on projects together.

  • Sharing your notes when someone has missed class.

  • Help each other understand assignments.

  • Sharing materials and resources.

Tools That we can provide to encourage this:

Reviewing IEPs, and 504 Accommodations. Understanding your student’s needs.
